Amica-Educa

Regarding of basic activity of Association ‘’Amica Educa’’– educative activity which encompasses the field of adult education, as a logical sequence of activities, the project “Lifelong Learning Festival in Bosnia and Herzegovina“ has been developed.

Association “Amica Educa“, has been organizing the project “Lifelong Learning Festival in Bosnia and Herzegovina“ since 2000 trying to influence the consciousness of citizens and to motivate them for continuous improvement of their own capacities - for lifelong learning. The intention of the Festival is to connect the relevant actors in education, promotes the various forms of nonformal education, to support the implementation of education reform in B&H and to includes organizations and institutions of the governmental sector in the struggle for establishing the Adult Education Law.

With respect to the fact that in B&H we don't have the system of adult education, such Law does not exist, that the policy of governmental institutions confirms they don't consider the adult education to be deciding factor for the development of B&H, Association “Amica Educa“ considers necessary to continue with promotion of lifelong learning, developing the conditions for education for all people, especially for adults and groups of deprived and endangered population.

A positive steps have been made since 2000 that contributed to adult education and especially to education of socially deprived groups of population, including continuous work on introducing the idea of lifelong learning to citizens, presentation of practical examples of nonformal education and creation of Strategy for the development of adult education in 2007.

Conception of lifelong learning connects some levels and forms of education (formal, nonformal, informal) into one unique system. It is about the whole process of raising and developing a person, about developing opinion on the first place, setting one's thoughts free. Having in mind the fact that the legal state of B&H is being develop, that there is an overall poverty in the country where, unfortunately, investing in education is not a priority for an individual nor community, we think that this way of work can offer citizens the possibility to take over the initiative and responsibility for their personal and social development.

Mission of Lifelong Learning Festival:
Lifelong Learning Festival in B&H is a manifestation of the network of governmental and nongovernmental organizations and individuals in Bosnia and Herzegovina which encourages and develops the consciousness about the need for lifelong learning and through promoting the educational activities contributes to quality and joy of living.

Strategic goal of Lifelong Learning Festival in B&H:
To develop the consciousness of people about the need for lifelong learning, to improve the quality of education and to make legal and other prerequisites for lifelong learning of all citizens.

The Institute for International Cooperation of the German Adult Education Association (dvv International) – Office in Sarajevo has been providing the professional as well as financial support for realization of the Festival almost from the very beginning.
