Project "Creative support to primay school teachers of Religion Culture"

This project was created from the need of the teachers of religious culture with the purpose to help them make their lesson of “Religious Culture“ more creative.

International and home media in the last couple of decades have made many reports about violence and fights, which were the consequence of the religious fanaticism feuds.

As a result of war in B&H, certain number of people still has some of religious intolerance inside of them towards the people of other religion. Parents who have such beliefs sometimes carry those beliefs over to their children (trans-generation trauma) who, further, spread those beliefs among their friends and schoolmates. An important factor, in solving the negative attitude and prejudice towards other religions are institutions for education (kindergartens, elementary schools) and teachers as the representatives of the institution for education who are in direct contact with students.

After many years of cooperation with educationists from Tuzla Canton who attended seminars in Association Amica EDUCA, it has been noticed that there is lack of support for teachers who give lectures on “Religious Culture“. In other words, these teachers are mostly assigned for these duties but are not previously educated, prepared nor supported for such subject, they don't have appropriate books and they are not educated how to adjust the topics of religion and religious culture for the children of that age in creative and acceptable way. There is no common plan or programs for this subject and there are no appropriate books. Teachers are forced to create the lesson plan themselves, and that lesson includes mostly the talk and lecture on religions that are present on territory  of Bosnia and Herzegovina (Islamic, Christian, Judaism).

Activities:
The local facilitator of  “Dances of Universal Peace“ has made, together with her co-worker (and for the needs of the project), the educational package created in such way that teachers can, through practical and creative work, acquire elementary knowledge and skills that will enable them to adequately create and give lessons for the subject “Religious Culture“.

Through education, teachers have got the chance to learn how to motivate students, in interesting way for learning elementary facts about their religion and other religions as well. They have realized that the world religions come from one source and the difference is quality and not an obstacle. Having this in mind one will be able to influence the spiritual development of each student, and help them to become healthier inheritor of the future society.

So far, three seminars with total of 50 participants have been held. Feedback information from the teachers that applied the acquired knowledge is very positive.

With respect to the accomplished results, Amica Educa has the intention to offer the same project activates to teachers of whole Bosnia and Herzegovina.
