About Organisation

HISTORY
Association “Amica Educa“ was established in January 26th 1999 as a local non-governmental organization, but it was first founded in September 1996 as a foreign humanitarian organization “Amica Schweiz“. Amica Educa was founded after the war in B&H on the initiative of many different associations in B&H, Switzerland, Germany, Italy and the main goal was to reach out and distribute humanitarian help such as: food, psychological and medical care to all women and children who were in need of such help, in the same time making no difference between refugees or domicile population.

War is over, there is no any more direct arm struggle or military activities and destruction but consequences of that war are still present: poor economical situation in country combined with heavily damaged infrastructure and bad housing situation is still present, and new reforms are necessary.

Public life only seems to be normal but many people are facing with psycho-social difficulties and everyday problems which are direct consequences of war and inevitable lead towards the loss of enthusiasm and motivation, increase of aggressiveness, depression, suicidal ideas and other socio-pathological behaviors of individuals (drugs, crime).

Amica Educa is trying to provide support to people who themselves are not able to cope with such problems. The support is not material, it is mainly focused on strengthening the individuals for active participation in society enabling the one to become aware and fully use one’s true potential, and in that way improve the quality of life. All of this is made possible by Amica's programs that are slowly but constantly improving and expanding. Today's experience and resources that Amica Educa as organization possesses in the process of education and applying newly acquired knowledge and new methods of psycho-social support, directly influence one's ability to recognize his or her own potential and resources. Also, that support makes one's individual and professional growth possible.
All of that leads to straightening the self-confidence and preventing the stress, increasing the motivation, and the endurance of an individual. This will help Bosnian people to overcome many problems in today's society and also help them make their way on the labor market and more equal participation in social life.
