Project ''Drug addiction prevention through counseling work with children and families''
The first response to the question; What can we do to minimize abuse of narcotic drugs? Is to more effectively educate children, youth and parent, and public in general, how to create as to everything that surrounds us in this modern age a just relationship. Considering that the trend of disorders is in younger population, all actives concerning primary prevention should be addressed to healthy population.
The project ''Prevention of addiction through counseling work with children and families'' implemented by Center for Human development and education 'Amica EDUCA', gives it's contribution in primary prevention of addiction, and project activities are also introduction to creating Family counseling centre in Tuzla.

Specific goals of this project are:
• Enabling of creating addiction and suppressing addiction and other sociopathological problems and difficulties.
• Empowering institution of family in Tuzla Canton and harmonizing family and marital relationships.
• Support to children and youth in developing positive habits and forming proper life attitudes and convictions.
• Providing counseling/therapeutic services for citizens and professionals from social and children protection professions.
• Professional help to institutions and organizations who work in area of social and children protection according to their needs.

Activities implemented during the project
Work with group of children in Amica EDUCA house
In period June,01. to August 31. 2009 in total 16 session has been realized for 30 children. At the beginning of project implementation children were divided in groups depending of their age; first group age 7-11 and second 11-15 years old. The sessions were created to strengthen every child, and to develop each child's personal characteristic. The sessions also included education about drug abuse and addiction.

Work with group of children in children’s Camp in Muška Voda, Kladanj
In cooperation with Handball Club ‘Saruk’ from Kladanj which was implementing project ‘’With sports against addiction’’, Amica EDUCA has implemented 3 workshops in the Camp for 30 children aged from 10 to 18 years. The workshops were focused in empowering healthy style of life and developing of positive social skills of children.

Psycho-educative, therapeutic and counseling work with groups of adults
During implementation of the project, in total 12 sessions of therapeutic and counseling work were held, including parents, legal guardians of children, educators, social workers, pedagogues, etc.
Work in sessions had interdisciplinary approach, and focused on different areas: psychological strengthening of the person, improving communication skills, developing of positive parenting, education about addiction and it's prevention.

Psycho-therapeutic and counseling work through sessions for individuals, families and couples
During the project implementation, in total 56 therapeutic and counseling sessions, for 11 persons were held. The sessions attended persons who seek support through SOS telephone (support to people within continuous activities of Association Amica EDUCA) or who had been members of group for psycho-educative, therapeutic and counseling work and who had a need for additional individual sessions with psychotherapist.
Psycho-educative workshops ''Positive Discipline'' with SOS mothers in children village Gračanica
During the implementation of the project the cooperation with 'SOS Kinderdorf Gračanica' was established, they have expressed need for support for their SOS mothers and SOS aunts. Amica EDUCA has held 3 counseling psycho-educative workshops for 20 SOS mothers and aunts who had been given support in upbringing of children with methods of Positive discipline by PhD. Jane Nelsen.

Achieved results and defined recommendations:
• Handbooks and other written materials had been created related and adopted to work with school children which address to problem of 'addiction'.
• Through implementation of project activities for children 19 sessions were held for 3 groups of children which included 60 children.
• In these sessions children have improved their basic social and communication skills, improved their use of leisure time, and gained knowledge about danger of drug abuse.
• Written materials used in sessions with adult groups had been created, related to their psycho -educative, therapeutic and counseling work.
• Through implementation of project activities for adults 24 sessions were held for 4 groups of children which included 56 persons (parents, legal guardians, SOS mothers and aunts, educational workers, social workers, pedagogues, etc.)
• During sessions for adults, participants/clients have showed positive improvement of their psychological state, improvement of their communication skills and skills of positive parenting, and they gained important information’s about drug addiction and it's prevention with children. All participant find this workshops very useful support in their private and professional life, and they expressed wish for continuance of these workshops. They also think it is very important that this workshops are offered to other people.
• Through 56 psychotherapeutic and counseling sessions for individuals, couples and families, the support had been provided to 11 persons where were evident improvement related to primary problem: coping with stress, depression, social anxiety, behavior disorders of children and general problems in family or partner relations (often connected to family violence).
• Considering achieved results, all participants in project activities have noticed interest in participants/clients for continuance of this form of work. Also, during the project implementation much more people addressed to Association then it was planned by project, which indicates the need for increasing our offer, and confirms the necessarity for opening Family counseling Centre as soon as possible.
