was installed in 1997 and approximately 300 people contact the SOS line with various problems every year.

SOS phone is open for all people (children, young people, women and men) who are faced with the crisis and stress situations. Trough the talk to professional experts (psychologist, social worker) all callers can be provided with:

understanding, support and security
possibility not to feel lonely and abandon
encouragement to overcome their fears
possibility to overcome and solve their problems
information about other institutions that can help you and their responsibilities to protect your human rights.

Several years after the opening of the SOS line, through analyzing the data on received calls, it has been noticed that the number of calls that are related to family violence (compared with total number of calls) is in constant growth and currently, large number of calls is related exactly to this problem.
At present, SOS phone focuses its work on the problems of women and children who endure any kind of violence:

physical (all types of jeopardizing the body integrity)
psychological (insulting, blackmailing, treats)
sexual (rape, coercive sexual intercourse with children, incest)
economic (leaving the women without any financial resources, blackmailing)
sexual disturbance and blackmail at work and in schools

The work of SOS phone is based on anonymity and confidence as its basic principles. Through the SOS phone conversation we give strength and support to all callers to adequately, make decisions about their problems on their own.
